As you may or may not know by now, our property has been purchased by Kingwood International Resorts, and we couldn’t be more excited! Atlanta-based Kingwood International Resorts also owns and operates the Kingwood Country Club & Golf Resort in Clayton, Georgia. Also in Kingwood’s portfolio is the Achasta Golf Resort community located in Dahlonega, Georgia, home to the award-winning Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, both in North Georgia. The purchase of the resort, formally owned by Scout Hotels and Resorts, was finalized on January 26.

“We’re excited about the direction Kingwood has planned for the Plantation on Crystal River,” said Michael Mancke, Plantation on Crystal River General Manager. “We have such a unique product here and all parties are looking forward to taking the property to the next level.”

Kingwood plans to add amenities and refresh certain areas of the resort, including guest rooms, golf course, food and beverage outlets, the grounds and retail areas. The company plans to invest approximately $2.5 million in these updates that will begin immediately. The resort will continue to operate as Plantation on Crystal River.
